The first is technically the only good movie.
I hate Hellbound with a passion but Clare Higgins was amazing. (Again.) Oh, and Tiffany's dream imagery was good. Other than that, what a pile of crap.
Hell on Earth makes a lot of mistakes but I liked the characters, there were some memorable deaths, the music wasn't bad, some of the imagery was good, and the scene with Joey running through the city and the church is AMAZING! Easily the 2nd best film in the franchise.
Bloodline makes even more mistakes than the 3rd but I've grown to find it a very harmless bad sequel. The space stuff sucks but I was surprised to find out it's only used at the very beginning and very end. Some great casting too.
Inferno was doing VERY well until it put in some shitty CGI. Some very shitty CGI. The acting was good, the writing was good, it was stylish, the music was fantastic. But... the ending. The last half hour is so unbelievably bad, it made me angrier than almost any other movie in the entire franchise. So, even though the first 2 thirds are technically better than the next 3 movies to come after (oh, and whatever that new 2011 sequel thing is which only a crazy person would sit through), altogether it rather falls underneath the next film in the series.
Hellseeker... Give me strength. It has a decent ending and a good prologue. But, I'm dead serious: Kirsty should have been kept as a dream figure and NOT given a brand new storyline involving making some kind of deal to turn in her asshole husband / boyfriend. Literally unbelievable. Next problem: the "mind fuckery." No other word for it. The guy who goes through his daily life and can't tell what's real or not. It's not interesting or scary or funny. It's crap. It's so crap, it's on part with The Cell. But, the sexual stuff was at least mindful of turns on actual fetishes. And when there's no CGI, it doesn't always suck.
Deader... Shit. Shit-covered shit with a shitty center wrapped up with a shitty bow. One of the worst horror films I have ever seen in my entire life.
Hellworld... terrible. But harmless and quite innocent. Not as painful as it could have been.

I couldn't force myself to suffer through it twice, but my biggest problem was - excluding Clare Higgins' scenes - the first half hour or so. The dialogue and acting were so painfully bad, I nearly shut it off before the 10-minute mark. But when I see a movie that bad, I usually watch it all the way just so I can tear into pieces the people who said it was good. (I take bad movies especially hard- I literally become furious.) Either way, the movie's reputation has been GREATLY exaggerated. They shouldn't have tried to change Kirsty or write her a new story just to get a shitty sequel made. At the end of the first movie, she wasn't ready to be committed for Christ's sake. She was over it. She got out of the house. With the exception of mourning her father, she was supposed to be fine. They turned her into a raving, sniveling wretch where in the first movie we were meant to except her as a slightly stronger heroine.

Well, the original is certainly superior, but I don't see a very big problem acting-wise in Hellraiser II. It's certainly better than what came after (though I like III and IV a bit too... I need to see Inferno. Apparently it's pretty decent.)

I think the original is the one of the best horror films ever made. Honestly, just think of seeing that huge poster of Pinhead in your local Blockbuster. That single poster/make up seriously created one of the best modern day monsters. Most people I talk to (that are not into horror) remember seeing that poster and deciding that they could never watch that movie.
He seriously is a terrifying monster. Honestly, it blends sci-fi and horror in one of the best ways in modern film. Such an ambiguous backstory too.
As far as sequels go I thought that Bloodline was pretty interesting.

I would have to say that my favorites in the series are the original of course , Hellbound, and Hellseeker cause of the fact that Ashley Laurence was in them she made those movies really enjoyable to watch I did like Hell On Earth due to the fact that the actor that played that played the sexy bar owner was so hot it was a shame he was killed in it though
